What is laser skin resurfacing?

Perich Aesthetics surgeons use the Candela CO2RE® Laser to enhance skin tone and texture through skin resurfacing. This non-invasive procedure reduces the effects of aging and sun on the skin, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and surgical and acne scars by removing the skin’s outer layers and allowing radiant new skin cells to shine through.

This procedure can resolve the symptoms of certain dermatological conditions. For example, skin resurfacing is often used for clients who have rosacea, deep folds, and wrinkles in the skin, warts, spider veins, and blemishes. Laser treatment can also improve the appearance of sunspots, sagging skin, uneven tone, and enlarged pores.

After preparing the skin for resurfacing, the surgeon applies a topical anesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable. The skin is then thoroughly cleaned before the laser is slowly applied to the targeted treatment area. The CO2 laser stimulates the body to produce its own natural collagen as the skin heals.

Although some patients notice side effects like tingling or redness, these usually resolve within several days of the procedure. During the healing period, you will be instructed to clean your skin with a special solution several times each day to avoid infection. Most clients require several sessions of laser resurfacing depending on their aesthetic goals, but you can expect the final results to last for several years. The process also continues to improve for months after the procedure is done.

Fall or winter is the ideal time for skin resurfacing especially for Tampa Bay residents since clients should limit sun exposure before and after this procedure to protect the complexion and preserve results. Laser treatment is appropriate for individuals of all skin tones, although it should not be used during active acne breakouts.

How Does CO2RE® Work?

This treatment uses a fractional laser, which applies a matrix of light points to the skin. The laser application boosts the production of collagen, which keeps skin looking soft, supple, and smooth. It also encourages more rapid cell turnover to create an evener tone and fewer age spots.

We can adjust the intensity of the lasers based on your skin type and desired aesthetic goals for a quick, painless procedure that requires less downtime than traditional laser resurfacing. With CO2RE®, you can quickly return to work, the gym, and other regular activities. Although you may experience some discomfort when the surgeon applies the lasers, we use an anesthetic to help numb the area.

Morpheus8

Morpheus8 treatment combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to remodel and contour the face and body. This fractional treatment penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates collagen production for a smoother and sleeker appearance. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, the building blocks will reorganize themselves in a natural anti-aging process. There is little to no damage to the dermis and this procedure provides an extremely uniform effect.

Morpheus8 can treat areas of the face and body that exhibit:

  • wrinkles

  • discoloration

  • acne scarring

The most commonly treated areas include the face and neck, as well as the abdomen which is beneficial for tightening loose skin with underlying fatty tissue.

This treatment helps to improve skin complexion and texture for a more radiant and youthful appearance.

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a device that combines microneedling with radiofrequency technology for fractional resurfacing that stimulates collagen production. Microneedling is a scientifically proven method to reduce wrinkles and rebuild collagen. During the procedure, we insert a matrix of micro pins to renew deeper layers of the skin. Radiofrequency (RF) energy heats the deep layers of the skin in a controlled manner to revitalize the collagen.

Collagen is the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cell and tissue. Collagen is called “fountain of youth” as it keeps your skin from sagging, giving it a glow and youthful look. Your body naturally produces collagen, but its production decreases with age. Starting in your mid-20s, you slowly begin to lose collagen. Women can lose up to 30% of collagen in the first 5 years of menopause. It is never too late to start treatments to stimulate collagen production in your skin!

The benefit of Morpheus8’s color blind technology is that it can be used on all skin types. The unique properties allow even darker tones to be treated with little risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is common with other resurfacing methods.

You will notice the first visible results within a few days. Typically the most noticeable results appear after three weeks. Improvements continue up to three months after treatment. Depending on your Morpheus8 treatment regime you can expect to have between 1-3 sessions.

What is Morpheus8 Prime?

Morpheus8 Prime is a final touch facial treatment designed for periorbital, perioral, nose, and small hard to reach areas to restore their youthful appearance by improving:

  • wrinkles

  • dark circles

  • texture of the skin

  • effectively reduces bags underneath the eyes

The Prime tip has 12 pins instead of 24 and the tip is much smaller than a regular Morpheus 8 tip. It is a highly recommended treatment for patients who struggle with tired looking eyes, eye bags, and crow’s feet.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® fights wrinkles and sagging skin and reduces fine lines for a more youthful appearance. Sculptra® enhances skin tone and texture & improves skin health. It offers subtle, more natural-looking results. Because the improvements brought on by Sculptra® are gradual, it will be much less likely that anyone suspects that you’ve had any treatment done. Since volume is added slowly, the improvement looks very natural.

Sculptra® is one of our favorite products since it stimulates the body to produce its own type 1 collagen over time, giving you a permanent result, unlike filler which completely dissolves over time. As we continue to age, it is recommended to repeat Sculptra® injections once per year to maintain the best results.

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen in your skin with new collagen for results that can last more than two years. t was first used to treat lipoatrophy that causes facial fat loss that results in sunken cheeks and deep folds and indentations on the face. The main ingredient in Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It’s classified as a collagen stimulator that provides long-lasting, natural-looking results.

How does Sculptra® work?

Sculptra® is injected into the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. It contains PLLA, which acts as a collagen stimulator, helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance. You may notice immediate results, but it can take a few months to see the full results of your treatment. Dr. Perich will work with you to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve the best result. The average regimen consists of three injections spread out over three or four months.

Sculptra® is used to diminish facial wrinkles and folds and has been clinically approved to treat:
