Frequently Asked Questions

Which Neck Lift procedure is right for me?

The process of a neck lift can be combined with various procedures depending on the intended results. Using our nonsurgical techniques we can reduce excess tissue and fat in the affected neck area and jowls. We can tighten the muscles, or add injectables such as Kybella, Botox and fillers for a tighter, more youthful contour. Every procedure starts with a thorough consultation with our surgeon to thoroughly understand your cosmetic objectives.

What is FaceTite?

FaceTite is an advanced contouring system to treat a patient’s face and their small areas. FaceTite is minimally invasive and is the next best alternative to facelifts without the invasive surgery. We can instantly firm your skin and make you feel years younger without any discomfort.

What to expect during a Neck Lift?

The exact procedure will vary since the neck lift must be customized for your individual goals. For example, sagging skin under the chin and neck can be corrected with small incisions under your chin or behind your ears. The surgeon can then lift and remove excess tissue in this area. Minimally invasive procedures may be appropriate for some neck lifts. In some cases, liposuction, radio frequency RF based treatments like Morpheus8 or CO2 laser skin tightening can be used to remove excess fat from the neck.

Who is an appropriate candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?

Anyone who is generally in good health and has realistic expectations for the results could be a neck lift candidate.

If you smoke tobacco, you will need to quit at least one month before your surgery. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and can cause complications with the healing process after surgery. You will also need to have a full medical exam with your primary care physician to make sure you are healthy enough for surgery. Avoid taking any blood thinners such aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs for at least two weeks before your procedure, these medications increase the risk of bleeding during the procedure.

Who is a good candidate?

  • patients at any age with significant skin laxity and hanging jowls

  • Patients who haven’t had any surgery in the past 3-4 months.

  • Patients without active skin infection

What happens after the procedure?

  • Patients may return to everyday life after the procedure.

  • Swelling, redness, tenderness may occur- using ice packs helps.

  • Avoid strenuous workouts for 2 weeks

  • Avoid exaggerated facial expressions

How do I prepare for Neck Lift Surgery?

This procedure is safe and effective for most people who are in good health. After your consultation, we require a medical clearance from your primary care physician to confirm you are medically healthy enough for surgery. If you smoke, you must quit at least a few weeks before the procedure since nicotine delays the healing process with any surgical procedure and can negatively affect the final results. Alcohol must be avoided for 2 weeks prior to your procedure because it increases risk of bleeding and complications during surgery. You should also stop taking medications that may cause bleeding, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and certain vitamins.

What is the recovery process like?

As with all surgeries, you will notice tightness, swelling, inflammation, and bruising in the affected area during neck lift recovery. These symptoms should resolve within about two weeks. Carefully following post-procedure instructions will ensure a smooth, comfortable recovery. Many people can return to work within 10 to 14 days after surgery.

You can soothe swelling and discomfort by applying ice packs to the area. You should also arrange to have a family member or friend stay with you for the first day or two after your neck lift.
