Dermal Fillers: Juvederm®, Radiesse®, Revanesse Versa®, & Restylane®

5. Neuromodulators: Botox®, Jeuveau™, Xeomin®
Neuro-what-o?! Although you may have not heard that word before, we bet you have heard of Botox! The technical term is neuromodulator and the brand name is Botox. Jeuveau and Xeomin are also neuromodulators but are a different brand and formula than Botox.
Often people refer to these are fillers however they technically are their own thing. Fillers, as started above, add in volume through the injection of hydraulic acid (HA). Neuromodulators temporarily treats lines and wrinkles at the source, relaxing the underlying muscles of the face to create a smooth, refreshed finish. By relaxing the muscles in the area, you have a harder time to move them thus creating wrinkles. In easiest terms, fillers add where neuromodulators pause.
Both Jeuveau™ and Botox® are neuromodulators created from a refined form of Botulinum toxin A. Botox® has been the gold standard in treating facial lines and wrinkles for years. Jeuveau™ is being hailed as “Newtox.” While both Botox® and Jeuveau™ are created from the same basic neurotoxin, Jeuveau™ has the benefit of using the newest technology and methods of creation that were not available when Botox® entered the scene.
