Feeling amazing in your own skin can truly be life changing- you gain confidence, you feel empowered, and love life! You save time by not stressing over getting ready, meeting new people, or even seeing old friends. Yet over time, life has a way of showing your trials, stress, and troubles right there on your face and skin. With self-care on the rise, we feel ready to find ways to boost ourselves then tend to wonder, wait…can I afford this?

In the past, cosmetic procedures were thought of as something only the rich and famous could do. With the advancements in technology, there are more aesthetic options than ever before which means you can really target a specific area or concern without it having to cost you an arm and a leg. Additionally, some people may find that what they are looking to have done, like an eyelid lift, may actually be covered under their insurance. Though few cosmetic procedures can count for insurance purposes, there are other options out there than simply forking over lots of cash all at once.

What is considered a cosmetic procedure?

When we say cosmetic procedure what we are referring to is either a surgical or non surgical procedure done to improve the physical appearance of a person in one way or another. This could be anything from getting fillers to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles to a full traditional facelift that requires surgery and recovery time, with many things in between.

Are any cosmetic procedures covered under health insurance?

The main procedure that gets confusing as to if it is cosmetic or not is an eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). There are many medical conditions that can cause problems with the upper and lower lids. These medical conditions can be diagnosed during a consult with one of our eye surgeons who perform oculoplastic surgery. Here at Perich Aesthetics, we perform a variety of cosmetic and functional eyelid surgeries.

For some patients, some or all of the eyelid surgery can be covered under their health insurance as it could be considered a functional surgery meaning needing to be done to be able to see. To know if your health insurance will cover any of this varies based on the individual’s personal health insurance plan. We will work with you to answer this question before your surgery is scheduled.

Are there options to finance a cosmetic procedure?

Of course with any aesthetic procedure, you can pay in full or on your current credit card. However, a really cool new option has come around that gives you the ability to get the procedure done sooner and pay over time. At Perich Aesthetics, we have partnered with CareCredit a company who specifically helps with the financing of health and wellness treatments.

What is CareCredit? Let’s hear directly from them:

CareCredit is different from a regular credit card.

Use it to pay for out-of-pocket expenses not covered by medical insurance, and special financing options are available that you may not be able to get with other cards.

Pay for health, and wellness care at over 250,000 enrolled providers across the nation. Once you've applied, you can use it again and again at any location that accepts CareCredit.

With shorter term financing options of 6, 12, 18 or 24 months no interest is charged on purchases of $200 or more when you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period. If you do not, interest is charged from the original purchase date.*

*Subject to credit approval.

CareCredit is able to be applied for by anyone who is 18 years old or older. You can apply directly over the phone (for those 21+) to find out immediately if you qualify through their easy to use automated system. All you need for information to provide is your name, address, date of birth, SSN or ITIN, net income, and your household information. You can also use their online form found here to apply as well.
