PDO Threads are a great way to lift and tighten the skin on your face and neck. We have seen amazing results through this minimally invasive nonsurgical thread (MINT) lift that is considered a surgical facelift alternative. To really achieve your best results, the aftercare is incredibly important to follow as directed.

Non-surgical facelifts focus more on the remodeling and tightening without skin removal. Non-surgical facelifts cause minimal scarring and require little downtime. You’ll enjoy subtle, natural results that create a younger, more alert appearance. The results can take longer to see fully as oftentimes the stimulation of collagen has taken place which gives the body the ability to produce more collagen in the specific area is was not previously producing.

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

Let’s get on the same page about what exactly a thread lift is. A thread lift uses absorbable sutures to visibly lift and rejuvenate the skin, which addresses signs of aging that impact the mid-face area. PDO Threads lift portions of the skin to tighten it and stimulate the body’s natural healing response to direct large surges of collagen to treated areas. This procedure strives to create a sharper jawline and V-line with minimal incisions in the hairline.

In the weeks and months after the procedure, the skin will continue to look firmer and more toned as a result of the influx of collagen to the treated area. Why is collagen so important? As we age, our bodies produce less and less collagen. Collagen is like the “fountain of youth” as it keeps your skin from sagging, giving it a glow and youthful look. Collagen is the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cell and tissue.

By utilizing a PDO or MINT thread lift and forcing the body to produce additional collagen in an area, the skin becomes more youthful and tight naturally. Starting in your mid-20s, you slowly begin to lose collagen. Women can lose up to 30% of collagen in the first 5 years of menopause. These thread lifts directly address the specific areas in your face and neck just like stitching up a hole in a piece of clothing by bringing things together precisely.

MINT PDO is a FDA-cleared safe PDO thread for effective soft tissue approximation. It has been used in multiple clinical studies proving its efficacy and strong lifting effect to target sagging tissue. Its patented 3600 molding technology, allows the helically molded barbs to have higher tensile strength and strong anchoring ability. MINT PDO is highly effective in redistributing sagging volume from unwanted areas to an ideal area for a youthful look.

This procedure is most appropriate for individuals who have mild to moderate facial sagging, typically those between their late 30s and mid-50s. It also provides a safe, effective alternative to a traditional facelift for patients who cannot undergo open surgery because of cardiovascular problems or other health issues.

PDO Threads Aftercare: Do’s

This type of facelift can be conducted in an office setting under local anesthesia. Most clients can return to work and other activities right away, although it’s important to avoid disrupting the treated area in the weeks after surgery. How should you take care of the treated area?

  • DO use ice packs: the treated area can swell, be tender, and have some redness.

  • DO keep your head elevated for the week following- sleep on your back!

  • DO know there can be some pain, typically for the first two days following- ask your provider which pain meds might be right for you to use. This will reduce as the days go on.

  • DO take all of your prescribed medications, like antibiotics, if you are given them.

  • DO return to everyday life after the procedure.

  • DO follow any specific instructions provided for you.

  • DO return to washing your face as normal after 24 hours: see below for more specifics.

  • DO make sure to come to your follow up appointment to ensure everything is healing correctly!

PDO Threads Aftercare: Don’ts

Ok, we got the Do’s, but what about the Don’ts surly there are some things there! You are correct, and these may actually be more important to read over carefully:

  • DON’T pull down on your facial skin for three weeks following.

  • DON’T do strenuous workouts for 2 weeks, such as weight lifting or pilates, as this may cause threads to move.

  • DON’T make exaggerated facial expressions and eating foods that cause you to open your mouth very wide (i.e laughing too much, eating an apple, a hamburger, etc).

  • DON’T touch the injection points for at least 48 hours- these will be tender and are the most important spot that needs to heal well to avoid scaring.

  • DON’T indulge in drinking and smoking for at least a week following as these things slow down the healing process for the body.

  • DON’T massage the treated area for at least a month after- generally speaking you want to be as easy as possible to allow the threads to work their magic.

Consider the treated area like as if it were in a cast- keep it clean but minimize your normal activities. We promise not only will the results be worth it, but it will not be as hard as it may sound!

Ok so which areas can be targeted?

If a PDO thread lift is sounds pretty amazing to you at this point, you are probably wondering exactly which areas can you use this wonder treatment on? Great question! MINT 3D PDO threads are barbed and highly effective in lifting:

  • Sagging Jowls

  • Midface

  • Softening nasolabial folds

  • Flattening double chin or neck

  • Opening up the medial and lateral bows

MINT mono PDO are smooth threads that UNIQUE PRODUCTION METHOD promote collagen synthesis and can fill fine wrinkles in the forehead, midface, upper lip, nasolabial folds, neck, and body for a rejuvenated look. MINT PDO has its patented manufacturing process, which secures the technology from other competitors infringed patent rights.

During the molding process, barbs of the MINT threads are formed on the raw suture material. This process ensures that the thickness of the suture and the integrity of the barbs are not compromised.

The barbs are formed around the suture in 360° helical pattern. The patented helical pattern of the barbs amplifies the anchoring and tensile strength of the thread by fixating onto the 3D skin tissues in various directions. 360° barbs approximate tissue from all surfaces unlike the other competitor’ s 2D barbs that can only lift linearly from one direction.

It is important to note, that different people will be best fit for different procedures depending on that person’s goals, therefore a different style of facelift may be the best bet for you. We will be happy to help you figure out which option may be right for you! Give us a call today at 727-777-2640 to schedule your consultation and be well on your way to a rejuvenated you!
