Being in your 30’s is a fun time- you start to appreciate things like sleep, drinking water, and a routine. All these things are great for your skin too! At this point age is starting to feel real and you know that it is best to stay on top of keeping that beautiful skin rather than waiting for another day. You might not even feel that much older just yet- or look it!- but you know that failing to take your makeup off every night or letting the sun do what it wants to your skin is not the choice you want to make.

30-40 is the perfect age to start in with the quality care and treatments your skin is thirsting for. So, where do you begin? As always, making sure you are using high quality skin care products that cleanse, moisturizer, and protect creates the foundation for healthy, happy skin. It is imperative to use a good sunscreen everyday to help protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Many foundations and creams have SPF in them. It is a good idea to purchase the quality ones with this already in there so that no matter what you are getting that protection even if you are in a hurry and skip a step or two. There are some great tinted moisturizers with SPF that keep you looking fresh without the full look of foundation if you like to go more natural.

If you are starting to see some fine lines and wrinkles, maybe some sun spots, or are just looking for some preventative maintenance, here are the next steps to consider:

  • Start using Retinol
Retinol is an amazing tool many people find helpful for multiple concerns of their skin. It is a derivative of Vitamin A that helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and even acne. It is best used at night and should be something you start off by using once a week and build up to multiple days (potentially every night) as your skin adjusts to it.

  • Facials

These are great at any age and can really brighten and refresh your skin. Facials help in hydration for your complexion by cleansing, exfoliating, and nourishing your skin deeper than you can do alone. Those of us who enjoy all the fun in the sun can really benefit from regular facials.

  • Peels
If you have more damage than a facial can correct, the next step is considering a peel. Peels go deeper in the skin to target scaring like from acne, fine lines and wrinkles, minimize your pores appearance, and balance your skins texture and/or tone. Peels can really exfoliate deep to reveal a smoother, healthier looking face.

  • A Good Eye Cream
Honestly everyone should be using a good eye cream! The area around your eyes is especially delicate and needs a little extra attention. It is typically the first area you can notice signs of aging. A cream specifically for your eyes is important to not hurt the eyes themselves, but also give them the proper nutrients and hydration.

  • Botox for Prevention
You may have heard of some other young people starting Botox treatments before they see many issues Botox is typically associated with. Botox essentially weakens the muscle it is injected into. This then causes the muscle to not be able to function as highly thus preventing the wrinkles from forming in the first place. It is easy for you or your doctor to start to see potential problem areas forming and determine where a small amount of Botox could help prevent those wrinkles from forming in the first place.

  • Start to consider Morpheus8, Sculptra for prevention of facial aging
Both Morpheus and Sculptra are treatments done in our office that help boost the production of collagen by going deeper than a standard facial can. These are also great alternatives to fillers like Botox if you are not ready to jump into that pool. Morpheus8 is a microneedling procedure that uses tiny sterile needles to prick the skin thus inducing the production of collagen and new skin tissue. It also utilizes radio frequency energy to remodel and contour the face and body. Sculptra is a biostimulator, which means that it stimulates the body to produce its own type 1 collagen over time- giving you a permanent result! This wonder procedure will help you fight those wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin similar to a derma filler giving you a more youthful appearance.

  • Periocular CO2 Resurfacing
This procedure can reduce wrinkles, clear up sun spots, and even smooth out your skin texture. It also helps to boost the production of collagen giving you better skin tone and long-lasting results. Your skin is treated with a matrix of laser light points that vary in intensity, depending on your skin type and desired treatment results. Laser skin resurfacing gives spectacular results and it is the key to complete facial rejuvenation. Dr. Tanya Perich from Perich Aesthetics, experienced in laser skin resurfacing, says that this is a very popular option in Florida as more and more patients want to treat the skin tone issues, pigmentation issues and damages caused by Florida sun.

  • Consider Clear + Brilliant or IPL treatments
If you are looking to prevent and/or address early signs of aging, a Clear + Brilliant laser treatment or the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment could be something to look into. Both treatments use lasers to improve your skins pigmentation that is now more uneven or showing sun spots or redness with no downtime required. Clear + Brilliant is great for all skin types and really gives you a refreshed, youthful appearance. IPL is especially good for redness and uneven pigmentation.

There are many options out there to consider based on your specific skin’s needs. Once you feel confident in exploring how treatments can help you, make sure you consult with an experienced doctor like Dr. Tanya Perich to truly get the best results for your skin!
