I’m in my 20s: Do I even need to think about cosmetic procedures?

You are beautiful, young, and vibrant! Staying that way as long as possible will require some thought and care to your skin now to ensure you have healthy skin for your whole life. It is never too early to have proper skin care with quality products or to use a high-quality sunscreen daily. These simple things can make a huge difference now and for your years to come. Think of this article more like great habits to follow to help prevent the need for more extensive or potentially intrusive work later.

What should I be doing at home?

Wash and moisturize daily, and make sure at the end of the day to take the makeup off! Using a high quality cleanser and moisturizer that fits your skin’s needs is always important. The big benefit of spending the money to have nice products is that you typically do not have to use as much to get the job done right! This really sets the stage for the rest of your life with your skin’s healthy glow.

Additionally, as mentioned above, a high quality sunscreen used daily is a MUST! The sun is the fastest way to age your skin with damage that can become permeant. Especially in the Florida sun, we need to ensure the protection of our face with a good sunscreen. Many foundations these days have sunscreen in them as well, which is a good choice in addition. Personally, if my makeup does not have some SPF in it, I am not interested in buying it. This helps against wrinkles getting formed, sun spots showing up, and of course the dangers of skin cancer.

Ok, got it! I think I would like to consider more, what can I do to keep looking fresh?

  • Facials!

These are great at any age and can really brighten and refresh your skin. Facials help in hydration for your complexion by cleansing, exfoliating, and nourishing your skin deeper than you can do alone.

  • Peels
If you have more damage than a facial can correct, the next step is considering a peel. Peels go deeper in the skin to target scaring like from acne, fine lines and wrinkles, minimize your pores appearance, and balance your skins texture and/or tone. Peels can really exfoliate deep to reveal a smoother, healthier looking face.

  • Facial Extractions
If your pores are clogged and need a really good clearing out, a facial extraction could be right for you. Those who suffer from acne, whiteheads, and blackheads really find these procedures helpful. This is often combined with facials to maximize their effectiveness. Having this done professionally is important to prevent the spread of bacteria and potential damage to your pores.

  • Consider Clear + Brilliant or IPL treatments
If you are looking to prevent and/or address early signs of aging, a Clear + Brilliant laser treatment or the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment could be something to look into. Both treatments use lasers to improve your skins pigmentation that is now more uneven or showing sun spots or redness with no downtime required. Clear + Brilliant is great for all skin types and really gives you a refreshed, youthful appearance. IPL is especially good for redness and uneven pigmentation.

  • Botox for Prevention
You may have heard of some other young people starting Botox treatments before they see many issues Botox is typically associated with. Botox essentially weakens the muscle it is injected into. This then causes the muscle to not be able to function as highly thus preventing the wrinkles from forming in the first place. It is easy for you or your doctor to start to see potential problem areas forming and determine where a small amount of Botox could help prevent those wrinkles from forming in the first place.

  • Certain Fillers for Augmentation (depending on you desired outcomes)
Dermal Fillers do what they sound like, fill in areas where you are looking to add more plump. Lip fillers are one of the most common treatments to give the lips more volume. Other areas of your face can also be considered like your cheeks, chin, and jaw line. Dermal fillers produce immediate results without scars or downtime. The procedure is affordable and restores your vibrant look with minimal pain and discomfort.

Speaking with a trained professional like Dr. Perich, is your best bet to determine which treatments would be best for your specific needs. Contact us today to schedule a consultation to maintain the beauty of you!
