What is a neuromodulator and how do they all actually work?⠀We get it! That is a big medical word that just looks crazy on paper. When you try to Google it, lots of medical jargon comes up that makes you just feel like running away from your goal of understanding it in the 1st place. Let’s break it down so you can feel confident in your decision to utilize it’s benefits.
Neuromdulators are botulinum toxin injections that relax wrinkles. It is a non surgical treatment that is FDA-approved. Basically, it is the technical term and BOTOX® is the brand name. Other products, like Jeuveau® and Xeomin®, also use neuromdulators to stop nerve signals from telling muscles to contract. The formulations contain purified proteins that immobilize muscles by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. As a result, the targeted facial muscles relax, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles created by the contraction or tensing of specific facial and neck muscles. The targeted areas of skin look smoother and more relaxed.
All of these treatments can last 3-4 months, with some patients seeing results for even longer! BOTOX®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin® are FDA-approved procedures for treating the appearance of aging, and they are non-permanent. Different people will need different amounts of treatments as patients with especially dense muscles, for example, may require more treatments. It is also important to note that the full effect of the treatments can take anywhere from 2-10 days to see 100% of the treatment results.
Both Jeuveau® and BOTOX® are neuromodulators created from a refined form of Botulinum toxin A. BOTOX® has been the around for years with thousands of happy patient results. It temporarily treats lines and wrinkles at the source, relaxing the underlying muscles of the face to create a smooth, refreshed finish. Botox® takes up to 7-10 days to show 100% of the treatment result. BOTOX® let’s you look like you, with fewer lines!
Jeuveau® is being hailed as the “Newtox.” While both BOTOX® and Jeuveau® are created from the same basic neurotoxin, Jeuveau® has the benefit of using the newest technology and methods of creation that were not available when BOTOX® entered the scene. Jeuveau® is the only FDA-approved treatment to use High-Pure™ technology to have your wrinkles and fine lines appear softer and smoother on the surface by telling the muscles to relax at the source.
Jeuveau® is the first neuromodulator to be:⠀
▪️Approved by the FDA solely for the treatment of facial lines and wrinkles⠀
▪️Less expensive than BOTOX®
▪️and proven to work more quickly than BOTOX® with full results in as little as 2-3 days!
So, what about Xeomin®? Xeomin® is another neuromodulator that specifially is used to treat the frown lines between your eyebrows. This new formula is highly purified to remove extra proteins that do not play a role in a successful treatment. Like BOTOX®, Xeomin® relaxes the muscles at the source to temporarily soften the lines that appear on the surface. This injection is especially good for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines. If your BOTOX® treatments have lost their effectiveness, than Xeomin® can be a great alternative to try as well!
Non-surgical treatments for the visible signs of aging continue to be the most popular of all anti-aging treatments. Lines and wrinkles can leave you looking angry, tired, and older.
